Career Story

Jason Casagrande

Investment Advisor

Whether it is seeing the impact of the work I do with clients and their families, or formulating a plan for success and guiding my clients along the way, I feel very fortunate to be an important part of their financial future.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

It’s two fold, the means and the ends. There is the daily task of navigating through financial markets which I find the exciting at times and also very humbling. There is always something to learn, a problem to solve or a challenge ahead. However, it is the human element to my business that I find the most rewarding. Whether it is seeing the impact of the work I do with clients and their families, or formulating a plan for success and guiding my clients along the way, I feel very fortunate to be an important part of their financial future. I have been fortunate to work with some of my clients for many years and have even begun working with some of their children, which is a testament to the trust my clients place in me. I am extremely grateful for that trust, and truly enjoy assisting the next generation with their financial independence.

In your experience, what has made you successful at BMO?

Realizing early that I cannot do everything myself and to leverage the resources available. There are many people and learning tools that will help fast track your success. Also, as I’m client facing I have found that having a good moral compass to do the right thing for your client will always yield the best result. Lastly, if you make a mistake own it, learn from it and move forward.

What has helped you in your career development and what lessons have you learned along the way as you explored new opportunities at BMO?

I’ve been fortunate to have great managers who encourage personal development, provide mentorship and help network within the enterprise. What I’ve learned when exploring new opportunities is to be curious and ask questions before making a move. Once you have decided to make the move, be extremely prepared and continue to ask questions and seek the guidance of more experienced advisors. The advice and support you will receive will be invaluable.
