BMO Student Internship Program

As a valued member of a BMO team you’ll get hands-on experience and have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of workshops and information sessions where experts from throughout the organization share their thoughts on career development. All full-time post-secondary students returning to community college and university are eligible.


Customer Service & Sales

Get an introduction to the front-line customer experience that’s at the heart of our banking business. Shadow a full-time employee, attend client meetings and learn how to present BMO products and services to our customers.

Customer Service & Sales roles are located in our Personal and Business Banking group.

Analyst

Jump-start your career doing hands-on analysis and research. Perform analysis, conduct research, create statistical models and present your findings. Create documentation in compliance with corporate standards and generate reports/prepare presentations to assist senior managers in determining BMO’s financial strategy.

Analyst roles are located in many business groups, including: Personal and Business Banking, Finance, Anti-Money Laundering, Risk, Technology, Operations, Wealth Management, etc.

Coordinator

Work with various internal and external groups to support a specific business or project. Coordinate the activities of multiple stakeholders through communications, project plans, training materials, conduct research, planning/executing events and much more.

Coordinator roles are located in many business groups, including: Personal and Business Banking, Technology, Operations, Wealth Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Legal, etc.

IT & Developer

Prepare for an exciting career in IT or technology strategy and planning within the financial services industry. Your work may involve network design, quality assurance testing, or strategic technological planning. Configure, design, test and/or analyze security for a Bank system, network or tool.

All roles in the IT & Developer stream are in the Technology group.

Investment & Corporate Banking Analyst

Analysts start their careers with us by completing our Investment Banking Development Program. The program is designed to help you make the transition from theory to practice. Training includes core investment banking skills, such as: accounting, valuation and modeling, and pitch book development.

Investment & Corporate Banking Associate

Investment banking associates manage key aspects of client transactions. Associates work in either a specific product group, with exposure to a variety of different industries, or a specific industry group, with exposure to a variety of financial products. These products may include public and private debt, equity financings, mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory services.

Sales & Trading: Analyst/Associate

Our Global Markets Rotational Program is designed to provide a perspective on responsibilities and opportunities within our Sales & Trading business. Competition for this program is intense, and successful candidates will become part of a team of highly qualified professionals.

Analysts and associates rotate through various trading and sales desks over a 12 - 16 month period, gaining exposure to a wide variety of products and services. The program combines on-the-job learning with meaningful work experience, direct exposure to industry professionals, and opportunities in various parts of BMO Capital Markets.

Summer Investment & Corporate Banking Analyst

Summer Analysts are assigned to a specific Investment & Corporate Banking product or industry group during the three-four month program. In addition to this on-the-job experience, the program includes the opportunity to network across various business groups, getting to know BMO Capital Markets, training and learning seminars, and dedicated mentors. The program is considered an initial interviewing step for the full-time BMO Capital Markets Investment and Corporate Banking Development Program.

Summer Investment & Corporate Banking Associate

The Summer Associate program is a three-four month program that will be of interest to those individuals seeking practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic investment and corporate banking environment (corporate and government finance, mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, and project and leveraged financing) prior to completing an MBA. Summer associates participate in a wide variety of client transaction teams on public underwritings, mergers and acquisitions projects, and other advisory engagements.

The objective of this program is to identify exceptional candidates for full-time positions at BMO Capital Markets upon graduation. As such, select Summer Associates may be offered a full-time Associate position, contingent upon meeting certain requirements relating to the completion of an MBA.

Summer Sales & Trading Analyst

The Summer Associate program is a three - four month program that will be of interest to those individuals seeking practical, hands-on experience in the Global Markets Group of BMO Capital Markets (debt products, financial products, equity products, equity research, foreign exchange, institutional relationship management, securitization, asset portfolio management and credit investment management for our corporate, institutional and government clients) prior to completing your MBA.

The objective of this program is to identify exceptional candidates for full-time Associate positions at BMO Capital Markets upon graduation. As such, select Summer Associates may be given offers for full-time employment at the completion of the summer term.

Summer Sales & Trading Associate

The Summer Associate program is a three - four month program that will be of interest to those individuals seeking practical, hands-on experience in the Global Markets Group of BMO Capital Markets (debt products, financial products, equity products, equity research, foreign exchange, institutional relationship management, securitization, asset portfolio management and credit investment management for our corporate, institutional and government clients) prior to completing your MBA.

Build your career in Global Markets while developing your technical and quantitative skills. Gain a valuable career advantage earning hands-on experience in the Global Markets division of BMO Capital Markets during the summer prior to your final undergraduate/graduate school year. Make an impact on industry-leading teams working with data, programming, and analytics. Successful Summer Analysts/Associates may be offered full-time employment at the end of the summer term.

BMO Co-Ops

We run a Co-op Program in Canada, during the fall and winter academic terms. Similar to the Summer Internship Program, co-op students work closely with full-time analysts and associates to assist in a variety of analyses and workflows.
While not required, these programs are often viewed as an initial step for securing a full-time opportunity with BMO Capital Markets.
